About Kristen

Enjoy my blog as I explore my culinary side. I’m teaching myself and learning from family, friends and other foodies. I’ve had no official food education, I actually didn’t enjoy being in the kitchen until my college years when I was on my way to completing my Bachelors of Science in Management/Marketing.

I am now an entrepreneur in Metro Detroit, newlywed and spending my spare time giggling in the kitchen! I am participating in the Daring Kitchen Challenges so stay tuned and I follow so many peers food blogs and I’m also teaching myself photography.

Where did Food Giggles come from? I struggled to come up with a blog name and what it came down to was laughing at some of my most silly mistakes learning in the kitchen. Like a horrible tuna casserole, where I am still not sure what went wrong. Or, using olive oil for frying beer battered chicken instead of vegetable oil and smoking my then boyfriend (now husband) out of my uncles house when I was living there during an internship. And, he still married me and we still laugh about it. I guess my philosophy is Live and Learn…and Laugh.

The picture above was taken on our recent honeymoon through Canada (Manitoulin Island and the Bruce Peninsula). This was our view through a relaxing glass of wine watching yet another beautiful sunset on Lake Huron.

So, enjoy. Please get in touch with me if you’d like to challenge me with an ingredient or share your thoughts!

God Bless!

    Hi Kristen –
I came across your blog when searching for a good recipe for Michigan Cherry Chicken Salad. You had commented “A local deli/pizza shop near our house in Detroit makes a very similar salad and it’s delicious. I’m a fan of making things my own, but when he sells us 5-7 pounds of it for $6 . . . ” I am from the metro Detroit area and would love to know where I can buy this at, and would love to visit that local deli!! Please tell !! Thank you !!!

Mary – Thanks for finding me! Now, I was guestimating on the weight and going off the price my husband tells me, so I may be off a little in my weight/price but it is still an amazing deal and a tasty salad for sandwiches, wraps, on top of greens or alone as a heaping spoonful of a bite when you sneak by the fridge! You can find this salad at Mangia’s on Hix and Joy in Westland.

I have just added to my to do list to snap some pictures of our favorites from Mangia’s next time we get them. Their Ruben is sooo out of this world delicious, and our go to pizza is the BLT!

Try them out and let me know what you think!!
